God Loves - John 3:16 Sketch Sermon (October 30, 2005)
God Loves
John 3:16
Sketch Sermon
I want to talk to you today about the fact that God loves (Paint the words GOD LOVES in black). You know, God loves COLOR. (Write the word COLOR in black). Do you know how we know that God loves color? There is a story in Genesis that talks about a man named Noah. God told Noah he would help him. God created a big flood, but He saved Noah and his family. How did God show that He loved Noah? God gave the rainbow. (Paint the rainbow). God said that He would not destroy the earth again by water.
God loves all kinds of color. He also likes all kinds of PEOPLE. (Paint the word PEOPLE in black.) There is a song I know. Perhaps you can sing it with me:
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white, all are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
(During the song, paint the flags of Germany and Benin).
I always wondered about the song. What about brown people? Doesn’t God love brown people? Of course He does. (Paint the flag of Bahrain). You know boys and girls, there are also people who are blue sometimes. I mean the English word blue and not the German word blue. The word blue in English can mean that sometimes people can be sad.
(Go to the blue bowtie and paint the X and the cross in red. Explain while you are doing this.)
But you know God loves people who are blue as well. God loves sad people. He came to cancel out our sadness by giving His Son Jesus to die on the cross. When that happens, we now know we are in a United Kingdom and that makes us really great. (Explain to the audience that you painted the flag of Great Britain.)
So God loves red people, white people, black people, brown people, yellow people, and even blue people. God loves us no matter what color we are.
God also loves YOU. (Paint the word YOU in black and the hill in green). God loves all of you. (Paint stick figures in different colors beside the hill). God loves you if you are black, if you are brown, if you are white, if you are red, if you are yellow and if you are blue. God loves you and He showed it by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you and me. (Paint the cross in red.)
There is a verse in the Bible that talks about this. It is John 3:16. (Paint the verse John 3:16 in red). Let us say it together:
For God so loved the world that He gave is only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
God loves you. God loves me. God loves everyone in this church and everyone outside this church. Let us tell others about that today.
Wish I could have been there to see this done
